These terms cover how we quote for and carry out your move. We’ll always confirm the specifics of your booking in writing, and where those differ from what’s here, the written booking wins.

Quotes

A quote is based on the information you give us and, where we’ve done one, on our survey. If the move turns out to be materially different on the day — more to move, harder access, extra services — the price may change, and we’ll talk to you before we do anything about it. Unless we say otherwise in writing, a quote stays valid for thirty days from its date.

Booking, deposits and payment

We confirm a booking in writing once you accept the quote. We may ask for a deposit to hold your date, with the balance due as set out in your booking confirmation. Payment terms are stated on the confirmation and any invoice.

Changes and cancellation

Tell us as soon as you can if your plans change — dates slip often, especially in a chain, and we’ll do our best to move with you. If you cancel close to the agreed date, within fourteen days of it, some or all of a deposit may be kept to cover work already done and time set aside. Your statutory cancellation rights, where they apply, are unaffected.

Our care of your belongings

We handle your things with care — blanket-wrapped, secured and protected, with floors and doorways covered at both ends. Please make sure anything of unusual value is declared before the move, tell us about anything fragile or awkward, and prepare items as we’ve advised (for example draining appliances and taking down what we’ve agreed you’ll take down).

Liability and claims

We carry goods-in-transit and public liability insurance, and we’ll explain the cover before you book. If something is damaged, tell us in writing within seven days of the move so we can look into it properly. Some items — anything you’ve packed yourself, and certain high-risk or high-value goods — may be covered on different terms, which we’ll set out in your booking.

Storage

Where we store your goods, they’re logged on an inventory and held on the storage terms in your booking. Storage charges, access arrangements and notice periods are set out there.

International and long-distance moves

For moves out of Cornwall to Europe, and for long-distance up-country moves, the booking may involve vetted partner firms on part of the route and additional documents — customs paperwork, inventories and the like. We’ll explain what applies to your move. Transit times depend on route, crossings, customs clearance and consolidation, and any estimate is given in good faith, not as a guarantee.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you have any questions, email us at hello@cornwall-removals.co.uk.
